[edit]Etymology
[edit]Supposedly from French baie, qu'appelle which roughly translates as "what's the name of that berry". This is very liably folk etymology, though—the more obvious derivation bake + apple, influenced by bake in composite words, is suggested by the Oxford English Dictionary.
Noun
[edit]bakeapple (plural bakeapples)
