bad gaan

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Dutch

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

From the informal copulative sense of gaan ("to feel some way about something"); bad is not used in Dutch (even in slang) besides this phrase and some borrowed phrases, like bad bitch. But note that this specific phrase is not a borrowing (although bad, which here functions as an adverb, is borrowed from English bad) nor indeed a calque, as English go bad does not share the same semantics.

Pronunciation
