[edit]From Ottoman Turkish باشبوغ (başboğ), Old Turkic 𐰉𐱁𐰉𐰆𐰍 (b¹šb¹uǧ), from baş (“main”) and archaic buğ which may be related to Turkish bey or Bulgarian бог (bog).
