[edit]From Proto-Balto-Slavic *ouṣt- (*auṣt-?, ultimately from a derivative of Proto-Indo-European *h₁óh₃s (“mouth”), see also Latin ōs.[1] Cognate with Latvian aũšât (“to chatter, talk nonsense”), Proto-Slavic *ustiti.
