In reference to the Tapiro d'Oro (Golden Tapir), a satirical prize given by the TV program Striscia la Notizia to someone famous who has behaved reprehensibly or ridiculously. Morphologically from a- (ad-, en-) +‎ tapiro +‎ -ato (-ed).
