aristotype (plural aristotypes)

  1. A high-symmetry crystallographic structure type that can be viewed as an idealized version of a lower-symmetry structure.
  2. (historical) A printing process using paper coated with silver chloride in gelatin, or (later) any similar process using silver salts in either collodion or gelatin.
  3. (historical) A print made by such a process.
