[edit]Etymology
[edit]Noun
[edit]arējs m (1st declension)
- plowman; one who plows the land
- rezultātā Latvijas astroloģijā katrs ir savas vagas arējs ― in result, in Latvian astrology, everyone is the plowman of his/her own furrow
- manā īpašumā nonācis īstens darba zirgs, zemes arējs ― a real work horse has come into my possession, a plower of land
Usage notes
[edit]The difference between arājs and arējs seems to be that arājs describes a profession, a permanent way of life, whereas arējs refers to someone (or some animal) who happens to be plowing now.
