- (organic chemistry) An alkaloid, C8H8N2, derived from harmic acid, that behaves similarly to harmine, but that has greater solubility in water.

- Since apoharmine can be reduced both to dihydro- and tetrahydroapoharmine (242), it still contains the unsaturated nucleus present in harmine.
