[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish آپ آڭسز[1] or آپاڭسز (apañsız),[2] from آڭ (añ), intensive of ansız, from an (“mind, perception, consciousness”) + -sız (without, -less), literally “without awareness, oblivious”.[3]
