[edit]From Latin androgynus (“hermaphrodite”), from Ancient Greek ἀνδρόγυνος (andrógunos, “eunuch”), from ἀνδρός (andrós) (genitive of ἀνήρ (anḗr, “man”)) + γυνή (gunḗ, “woman”).
