Etymology

From Proto-Finnic *ammo-, probably from Proto-Uralic *amme (old, previous) +‎ -oin (temporal singular).[1][2] Cognate with Hungarian ó (ancient, in previous), Estonian ammu (once upon a time, long ago), Northern Sami oames (past, old) and Erzya умок (umok, a long time ago).
