[edit]Borrowed from Spanish alquimia, from Andalusian Arabic اَلْكِيمْيَا (al-kímya) and Medieval Latin alchemia, from Arabic اَلْكِيمِيَاء (al-kīmiyāʔ), from Ancient Greek χυμείᾱ (khumeíā). Compare Malay kimia. Doublet of kemistri and kimika.
