Borrowed from French alambic[1] or Spanish alambique, from Medieval Latin alembīcum, from Arabic إِنْبِيق (ʔinbīq), from Ancient Greek ἄμβιξ (ámbix, cup, cap of a still).[2] First attested in 1534.[3]
