[edit]Borrowed from Arabic اَلْكَنْزِيَّة (al-kanziyya, “treasure; stacking; amass”), from كَنْز (kanz, “treasure”), from an Iranian language; compare Persian گنج (ganj) and Old Median *ganza-bara-.
