[edit]Etymology
[edit]Compare Estonian alus. Nominative of this word is the same as genitive of alli (“underside, foundation”). These words can be used as a compound – alīzalli (“foundation”), perhaps it is a reduplication of alli and alīz is its genitive that has been nominalized as a new lexical item.
