[edit]- The singular is usually used in anatomical contexts; in other contexts, the plural is more common.
- In anatomical contexts, unless specified, aivo usually refers specifically to pääaivo: the encephalon. However, the selkäaivo - the spinal cord - is technically also considered a type of aivo.
