[edit]advaunc'd
- (archaic or poetic) simple past and past participle of advaunce
- 1790, Hugh Downman, Poems, second edition, page 224:
- When as the tread of ſtranger feet ſhe heard,
Eftſoons her eyes ſhe thitherwards enhaunc’d,
Which as the glitterand ſun‐beam bright appear’d,
And quicker than the quivering levin glaunc’d,
And ſtrait toward them with light ſtep advaunc’d;
Her holden‐tendrill’d locks down from her head
Hung looſely, wav’ring as to them bechaunc’d,
She never them confin’d in tye or brede,
But they mos t comely ſeem’d, whan moſt diſhevelled.
