Etymology

Semantically as thouɡh adhi- +‎ tiṭṭhati,[1] but with a different stem formation, which Geiger attributes to analogy with yāti.[2] There is a parallel stem in ṭhaha, which stem Geiger attributes in general to analogy with dahati from root dhā.
