[edit]Possibly influenced by a hiberic stratum, ultimately inherited from Vulgar Latin *accapāre. By surface analysis, a- + capu (“end, conclusion”) + -ari. Compare Neapolitan accapà, Aragonese, Asturian, Galician, Portuguese, and Spanish acabar. Sicilian accabbari.
