Possibly influenced by a hiberic stratum, ultimately inherited from Vulgar Latin *accapāre. By surface analysis, a- +‎ capu (end, conclusion) +‎ -ari. Compare Neapolitan accapà, Aragonese, Asturian, Galician, Portuguese, and Spanish acabar. Sicilian accabbari.
