[edit]Learned borrowing from Latin acatalēpticus, from Ancient Greek ἀκατάληπτος (akatálēptos, “incomprehensible”), from ἀ- (a-, “not”) + καταλαμβάνω (katalambánō, “to seize”), from κατά (katá, “against”) + λαμβάνω (lambánō, “to take”).
