From Sanskrit *अक्षदारुक (akṣadāruka), made from अक्ष (akṣa, Elaeocarpus angustifolius) + दारु (dāru, wood) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-). Cognate with Dameli [script needed] (aṣkürṓ).
