[edit]From Sanskrit *अक्षदारुक (akṣadāruka), made from अक्ष (akṣa, “Elaeocarpus angustifolius”) + दारु (dāru, “wood”) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-). Cognate with Dameli [script needed] (aṣkürṓ).
