Etymology

From Proto-Turkic *āŋ-la- (to understand).[1] Cognate with Azerbaijani anlamaq, Gagauz annamaa, Turkish anlamak, Turkmen āňlamak, Western Yugur [script needed] (aŋna-, to hear).
