[edit]Etymology
[edit]Both the neighbourhood and the former municipality are named after the river Zederik, a hydronym of unknown etymology. Proposed etymologies include a derivation from Proto-Indo-European *ser (“stream, flow”) or a substantivation of Middle Dutch serich (“inflamed, festering”).
