English
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Wyre is believed to mean Wyre Forest, although it is some distance away. Piddle relates to the local Piddle Brook. Wyre Halt railway station, closed in 1966, avoided the Piddle affix, no doubt through the other meaning at piddle; the village and parish council appear to be unabashed by that association.
Proper noun
[edit]- A village and civil parish in Wychavon district, Worcestershire, England, on the bank of the Warwickshire Avon (OS grid ref SO9647).
