• (Eersel) Potentially attested as wolfshoven in 1350, attested with certainty as Wolfshoven in 1794. Compound of Wolf (a personal name) and the dative plural form of hof (“farmstead, homestead”). The second element was eventually replaced with hoek (“isolated place”).
• (Heusden) First attested as De Wolfshoek in 1838-1857. Compound of Wolf (a personal name) or wolf (“wolf, Canis lupus”) and hoek (“isolated place”).
