- Discussion on PIE has been moved back. DAVilla

[edit]In previous votes, all comments were retained in the vote itself, despite efforts to divert them to the respective talk page.
Moving the preamble in this case, could potentially change the vote itself.

- Understand that in removing both lengthy comments, I was trying to be fair. It was stange though that you consider what's listed as discussion to be a preamble, maybe closer to Wikipedia's outline? Without a countering argument (which you also allowed and restored of course), such statements could be construed as manipulation. I believe most contributors feel their vote is being counted towards a narrow, specific action.
- Maybe I'm not sure what all a preamble is supposed to include. Putting arguments in the discussion as you did is a bit different from calling it part of the vote. At least we know it's just building a case, not part of what's being voted on. The initial discussion has always been much shorter in the past, and that was my reason for moving it. Yes, people are going to talk on the page, but you've practically invited a lengthy rebuttal.
- Anyways, if you feel better about having it all there, I don't see any reason to object. Dialogue is always open here, so I don't worry too much about opinions being misrepresented. I do think the outcome might be different without being so absolute, and waiting until opinions have been hashed out before resorting to a vote, but that wasn't my call. What role do disinterested parties play in our voting scheme? DAVilla 16:52, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
