Wiktionary talk:Projects
Move it to WT:RFC and I'lll see if I can make use of it,clean it up, integrate it to other things. But not immediately.--Richardb 14:59, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
New Project
[edit]Is there a process to "request" a new Wiktionary Project? I would like open a "Sports" projects, create a banner and tag talk pages; which would enable me to better track when things get changed (read vandalized). -- Mjquin id
- There are currently no Wiktionary projects for topics, as there is very little "spare" time for doing all the boring bookwork that projects require. If you want to set one up, feel free, though it might be better to just watchlist some pages in Category:Sports. Conrad.Irwin 23:46, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Wiktionary does not use the concept of WikiProjects since they do not really fit into the dictionary environment and the language specific About pages (like Wiktionary:About German already fulfill many of a WikiProject's jobs. -- Prince Kassad 20:51, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- Delete. It looks like Sack36 (talk • contribs), a.k.a. Amina, had plans for this before she left; if she ever returns, we can undelete it. In the meantime, it's serving no purpose. —RuakhTALK 16:02, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
- There's certainly room for some WikiProjects, such as requested entries, inter-wiki coordination, coordination between languages or just coordination one single language. However, this contains almost nothing but red links, so no reason to keep it. Mglovesfun (talk) 17:56, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- Might as well keep this, the WikiProjects I mentioned actually already exist (some of them) so maybe a clean-up rather than a delete. Mglovesfun (talk) 08:56, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- Admittedly my clean-up is not going well so far because only two of the 17 projects are active (from what I can see, at least one never was). Mglovesfun (talk) 13:03, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- Kept, updated since the start of the discussion. Feel free to re-nominate if you're not happy. Mglovesfun (talk) 13:16, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

How to donate content?
[edit]I am trying to find out how to donate large amounts of content to Wikionary. Several year ago my father wrote a five language biological encyclopedia style illustrated dictionary which has thousands of items in it. The dictionary was never published and i am wondering if it would be of interest to Wiki to acquire the content and publish it. I have very hard times getting a hold of the right person at Wiki to discuss this. Please point me in the right direction. Best regards, Nik Nvolkov 23:13, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- Sounds good. I suppose we'd want a machine-readable copy (i.e. source files, or a scan if it's paper), and then we could try to work out a way to parse it, as we did with a similar anatomy/biology dictionary not so long ago. If you ask at WT:BP then more people will read it. Equinox ◑ 23:18, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Again, Wiktionary doesn't have WikiProjects. If anything, this page is misleading. Some of the links are useful, some are not, but they all aren't the kind of subcommunity that a Wikipedia editor might expect, and for good reason. It has been nominated before, but it was kept as no consensus. C'mon, out with the cruft. --Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 14:07, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hmmm. Today I told a couple of people who have made Ainu entries that I'm starting an Ainu project. It seems like this page would be a useful place to link the project to, and the Ainu project would probably qualify for what you mean as a "project." I don't feel strongly about this, but FWIW :) --BB12 (talk) 05:43, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, I got a couple of responses, but none interested in joining. Perhaps it's better to put my project page under my user directory :) BB12 (talk) 20:14, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
