(Irish politics) The head of the government of Ireland, comparable to a prime minister of a Commonwealth of Nations country. The Good Friday Agreement, a pair of agreements that ended most of the violence of the Troubles, a political conflict in Northern Ireland that had prevailed since the late 1960s, was signed on this day 25 years ago, on Good Friday, 10 April 1998.
