Update ELE anagram format
[edit]- Voting on: Update the WT:ELE#Anagrams and other trivia. The current version was determined by Wiktionary:Votes/pl-2009-12/Modify anagram section of ELE. This vote will overwrite that text as follows:
Replace:
* opst: opts, pots, spot, stop, tops
With
* opts, pots, spot, stop, tops
Rationale: the template alphagram
has been modified so that it sometimes generates nothing in an entry that calls it: the colon then appears as the first thing on the line, immediately before the anagram(s). Since this is not desirable, both the template and the colon shall be removed; in cases where what the template generates is not blank (so is a link to an entry), it shall be replaced with a normal link and the colon changed to a comma.

- Bah. I'd much prefer the version I proposed on the talkpage, but this is good as a partial fix.—msh210℠ (talk) 19:00, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Oppose
[edit]- Oppose. I don't understand why we aren't proposing a technical solution for this that works. All the anagrams of any word that consists of the letters o p t s is going to be the same list for any of these. DAVilla 16:33, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- Whatever solution that is, we could use it for homophones, too. (I've also seen it proposed for
also
, but disagree.) In any event, DAVilla, while such a solution would be nice, I don't see what that has to do with this vote: why are you opposing?—msh210℠ (talk) 18:54, 13 December 2011 (UTC)- Because if this becomes policy then all of the template transclusions could be undone, but it doesn't make sense to make changed on so many pages without taking it another step, possibly reversing these very changes. Why was the experiment deemed a failure? DAVilla 07:14, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'm unaware of anagram lists included in entries by template.—msh210℠ (talk) 17:04, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
