Etymology

First attested as vrussenbach in 1381 and 1411. Originally a compound of vors (frog) and beek (brook, stream). The second element has not remained fixed over time, and has been reinterpreted as broek (marsh, marshland) and berg (hill, elevated place). Compare Palenberg and Rennemig.
