[edit]Borrowed from Ukrainian Верба (Verba), from Ukrainian верба (verba, “willow”). In some cases, a respelling of Czech Vrba and Slovak Vrba, from vrba (“willow”). Ultimately, from Proto-Slavic *vьrba (“willow”).
