[edit]From Ancient Greek Ἀρδιαῖοι (Ardiaîoi). Possibly from Proto-Albanian *harδ or Proto-Albanian *hardhë (“lizard”) from Proto-Albanian *skardā[1] Compare the celtic Scordisci, Ancient Greek σκορδύλος (skordúlos, “newt”)
