From Ancient Greek Ἀρδιαῖοι (Ardiaîoi). Possibly from Proto-Albanian *harδ or Proto-Albanian *hardhë (lizard) from Proto-Albanian *skardā[1] Compare the celtic Scordisci, Ancient Greek σκορδύλος (skordúlos, newt)
