First, all articles should be in our standard format, even if they are not yet complete. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with it. You can use one of our pre-defined article templates by typing the name of a non-existent article into the search box and hitting 'Go'.

Notice that article titles are case-sensitive and are not capitalized unless, like proper nouns, they are ordinarily capitalized (Poland or January). Also, take a moment to familiarize yourself with our criteria for inclusion, since Wiktionary is not an encyclopedia. Don't go looking for a Village pump – we have a Beer parlour. Note that while Wikipedia likes redirects, Wiktionary deletes most redirects, (especially spelling variations) in favor of short entries. Please do not copy entries here from Wikipedia if they are in w:CAT:MtW; request the full history import instead, at WT:ID.

Finally, you can link Wikipedia pages, including your user page, using [[w:pagename]], {{wikipedia}}, or {{wikipediapar|pagename}}. Please do not create redirects to Wikipedia pages, though. They don't work.

diablo

This word is not in any of my Italian dictionaries. It is not in it.wiktionary, and the entry in it.wikipedia does not mention the meaning given. I shall remove the Italian entry - but you may add it again if you can provide evidence. SemperBlotto 07:55, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Macrons

Hi,

Please don't go changing the rules and changing the romanisation of Japanese before there is an agreement about it. The recent discoveries need to be confirmed if they are valid, even if confirmed, it doesn't automatically change the way we romanise Japanese words here. The rules on this project regarding Hepburn romanization have been wrong for several years. I am just trying to bring it in line with how Wikipedia treats these articles. The Japanese long A and long E are never transliterated as A and E with macrons.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 11:05, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

The rules at Wiktionary don't have to match Wikipedia. We have thousands of entries and translations with existing romanisation and any changes should be discussed and agreed on. I haven't seen Japanese speaking editors favouring the revised Hepburn system. --Anatoli ^{(обсудить)} 12:15, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

You're not getting my point. There are users here who use a method they have agreed on. Nothing changes without an agreement. You can't expect to come in casually (you don't have a lot of contributions here), change the rules and expect everyone to follow them.
