او

[edit]

You removed the pronoun او with the comment "Ottoman Turkish had ol instead of o." Ottoman Turkish had both forms. See

  • Kélékian, Diran (1911) “او”, in Dictionnaire turc-français[1], Constantinople: Mihran, page 167 ("On dit quelquefois اول - ol")
  • Redhouse, James W. (1890) “او”, in A Turkish and English Lexicon[2], Constantinople: A. H. Boyajian, page 232
  • Redhouse, James W. (1890) “اول”, in A Turkish and English Lexicon[3], Constantinople: A. H. Boyajian, page 265 ("اول ol, vulg. o, pron.")
  • Meninski, Franciszek à Mesgnien (1680) Linguarum orientalium Turcicae, Arabicae, Persicae institutiones seu Grammatica Turcica in qua orthographia, etymologia, syntaxis, prosodia, et reliqua eò spectantia exacte tractantur, exemplisque perspicuis illustrantur et cuius singulis capitubus praecepta linguarum Arabicae et Persicae subjiciuntur[4], Vienna, page 146 ("اول ol, vel او o, ipse.")

Right, it had both forms, I know. What I actually meant there was that "o" was the vulgar form, and "ol" was the standard form of the word. I already mentioned "o" as an alternative form of "ol" in the page اول. See there Rd1978 (talk) 08:37, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thanks for your work with Turkish. If you have time, can you check some of the entries in Category:Tbot entries (Turkish), which were made by a robot over 10 years ago? Yellow is the colour (talk) 21:24, 28 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I took a look at the entries and I couldn’t see any inaccurate etymology or a wrong translation. Most of the words in the list are recently edited by other users. I’ll try to expand the etymology sections of the words in the list. Rd1978 (talk) 17:13, 31 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
