See the loose senses at villain such as "scoundrel". Yes of course the footballer isn't a cackling torturer. Equinox ◑ 21:21, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Equinox: I'm currently typing up at the talkpage of pantomime villain - something which is distinct from villain, you know that? Kingsif (talk) 21:28, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Kingsif: I would usually dislike a slangy term in an entry, but I think you've actually nailed it here: "someone people 'love to hate'" covers it rather well. Not bad. For the literal sense, I would like to cite a discussion of the great, late "Robbie Rotten" out of Lazy Town, but at present I have other priorities. lol. Thank you for your compromise. - Of course, and any improvements would be great! A literal sense quotation that isn't just describing the archetype especially gives more context to work with. Kingsif (talk) 07:48, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
