Add topicPlease stop creating entries in languages you don't know. You are creating a mess (just look at រដូវរងារ or ٹھہرنا), and we simply do not have the time to clean up after you. We rely on contributors to be able to check their own work, and it appears to me that you are making entries where you can't do that, and that is how errors can slip through. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 19:31, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not making a mess. Explain to me in detailed words what you think I'm doing that is not good for Wiktionary. GTContributor (talk) 19:33, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- I linked two examples from your recent contributions. If you can't tell what's wrong with them, then you have proven my point. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 19:34, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
That's easy. The Thai one was lacking IPA, and the Urdu one was lacking a conjugation template. I will fix both. GTContributor (talk) 19:37, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
And I was missing diacritics. GTContributor (talk) 19:40, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- It's Khmer, not Thai, and you're missing the point (as well as some of the problems). If you just stick to languages you're comfortable with, instead of pretending you know everything and failing, you can avoid making errors and work with experienced contributors. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 19:42, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- I concur with the above - editors should generally stick to languages they're famliiar with, because those who create entries in many different languages (basing their work on other sources, particularly Wiktionaries in other languages) tend to make mistakes, be unfamiliar with proper formatting, and worst of all, possibly propagate wrong content if those other Wiktionaries have mistakes in them. — surjection ⟨?⟩ 20:56, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
I still don't see
[edit]I still don't see what this entry has, for example, that my Urdu entry is lacking in. GTContributor (talk) 20:42, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- You inserted a "Definition" header in between the headword template and the definition that is used nowhere on Wiktionary, and the "Conjugation" header is at the wrong size (it should be four equals signs large, not three). Also, Google Translate is not a reliable source for definitions. mellohi! (僕の乖離) 21:12, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- Regarding the size of the "Conjugation" header, please take a look at WT:EL. —M. I. Wright (talk, contribs) 22:55, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
Google Translate
[edit]Stop, don't use it. Please see WT:CFI and if you are going to continue adding entries in language you have no clue about at least use a decent source. —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करें • योगदान) 22:43, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the tips
[edit]Thank you for the tips, all of you. I will stop editing for a while and read up on the rules so that I don't keep breaking them like I have so far. GTContributor (talk) 23:08, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
