Dan, I really appreciate the energy you have been putting in Wikisaurus, but from perusing your pages here I think you seem to be going over old ground. You may not have the full history of what has gone on to date. The concept of the table for the synonyms has already been tried and the result was a page with at least twice as many linkages as was necessary and about a fifth the number of synonyms in place as was necessary. Is there some reason you dislike the tool tip approach?
I've polled writers and non-writers on what they would like in a thesaurus and of the albeit limited number of people spoken to, less than 1% cared about anything except to see a great many synonyms for each word, to have no problems moving from synonym to headword to synonym and to have everything accessible without having to scroll down. They didn't care about etymology, full definitions or other languages. The 1% objection was me in that I want a strong sense of nuance that can't be gotten by the categories of synonym, near-synonym, antonym, etc.
You mentioned to me that the "ws" you've added to the header is to take the place of the link that should be on the icon. Why don't we put the link into the icon? Also, when I got here all that other stuff was embedded into the header template. I can only figure it came from copying a different template since it isn't anything wikisaurus uses. I had a hard time extricating real from extra. Do you know enough about the code to clean that?
I realize I've been somewhat slow to get the formats and the like up. Some of that is because of the scary impracations leveled at me by the headers on the pages I need to alter. {{ws}}: I don't know how to add the link to the image, so that's why. And I was just trying to make the header template actually useful, not to clean it up.
