Usage

[edit]

For use in the Etymology sections of words consisting of multiple morphemes, where it's not intended to indicate that it derives, historically, from those morphemes. For example, referentiality can be broken down thus:

{{derv|en|referential}} ( = {{base|en|reference}} or {{base|en|referent}} ( = {{base|en|refer}} + {{morph|en|-ence}} or {{morph|en|-ence}}) + {{morph|en|-ial}}) {{suffix||ity}}

by using this wikitext:

{{derv|en|referential}} ( = {{base|en|reference}} or {{base|en|referent}} ( = {{base|en|refer}} + {{morph|en|-ence}} or {{morph|en|-ence}}) + {{morph|en|-ial}}) {{suffix||ity}}

This template operates with {{prefix}} and {{suffix}}, both in single parameter mode (no base), {{derv}}, and {{base}}.
