Hi Caeruleancentaur. There are a lot of languages known as creoles, so we don't use that as a language name here at Wiktionary. I assume that you meant Haitian Creole specifically, but the translation vèt was already there under Haitian Creole on the page green. To avoid this problem in the future, you can always use the automated translation adder (which can be found at the bottom of any translation table. Cheers! —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 19:20, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
- Just dropping by again with another tip: each translation should ideally/eventually link to a valid Haitian Creole entry, so I made this edit to put each word in separately. As I recommended last time, you don't actually need to click 'Edit' to add a translation — at the bottom right of each translation table, there should be a little translation adder. Cheers! —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 21:31, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
- You can respond here, by the way. :) Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you want to help Wiktionary, and again, please ask if you need any help. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 22:27, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Got it! Again I should have been more observant. Thanks again. Caeruleancentaur (talk) 23:43, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
The word "pope"
[edit]I've just added the Haitian Creole word "pope" to the "doll" page. The word now refers one to the "pope" page, the pope who is the head of the Catholic Church. How does one add the Haitian Creole word to that page? Caeruleancentaur (talk) 14:50, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
- Just slot it in the alphabetical order. I have made a start for you. SemperBlotto (talk) 14:55, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. There was so much info before the French entry that I didn't look far enough down the list. I've added an etymology note to the entry. I hope that's appropriate. It's interesting to see the French origin of Creole words and maybe the entry will help in prouncing the word. Caeruleancentaur (talk) 15:17, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
- I've improved it a little (you hadn't wikified the translation, and had an etymology mixed in with the translation). SemperBlotto (talk) 15:22, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
- Ah yes, I see that. Now that you've shown me that, I can use it for the other Haitian Creole words that I add. Thanks again! Caeruleancentaur (talk) 15:31, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

The word vèv
[edit]Next question! I want to add the Haitian Creole word "vèv", widow. I've discovered how to add the "see also" template to "vev", but I can't find how to make a wholly new entry. Thanks. Caeruleancentaur (talk) 17:42, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
