Contacting administrators

Hi Andrejj, thanks for your question on my user page. I don't know where you would find administrators for the Slovenian (?) Wiktionary, I'm afraid. In the English Wiktionary, to find administrators, you click on Community portal in the left margin and then Administrators, but as you contacted me, you probably know that already. I don't know how things are organised on sl.wiktionary.org as I cannot read it :) Try hunting through the links in the left margin to see if you find anything there. Upper/lowercase

The default setting is to not distinguish upper and lower case page names (not just "entries," but all page names in all namespaces, even categories and templates). To change it you need to get the support of the sl.wiktionary community and request it to be changed. —Muke Tever 20:29, 21 August 2005 (UTC)

To request adminship, go to m:Requests for permissions. To request lowercase titles you will want to speak with a developer, they can often be found in #mediawiki on freenode (see m:IRC instructions if you need help connecting to IRC); Brion for one has also been known to frequent the #wiktionary channel. It's also possible it may be done by filing a bug request at bugzilla.wikimedia.org but you may need to find a developer anyway to draw their attention to it. —Muke Tever 22:11, 21 August 2005 (UTC)

Slovenian entries

Hi! :) Two things:

• Redirects such as jánuar are not really used here (redirects are generally forbidden except under extreme circumstances). You can mark accent in the headword line using head= parameter for alternative display in {{infl}}, like I've did here. Like in other Slavic languages, accent marks are not part of a standard Slovenian orthography, but are very important for non-native speakers so we should add them. SSKJ is very handy for these ^_^
• Slovene vs. Slovenian issue: SIL, UN, EU and WP favor "Slovenian" for various reasons, but there are already a number of entries here which use either header, and some editors regularly change "Slovenian" to "Slovene". What do you think would be preferable title, or it doesn't matter at all to you? It would be good to choose one and mandate it inside Wiktionary:About Slovene (or Wiktionary:About Slovenian :).

We try to use only Slovene as a header here, for consistency. Both names (Slovene and Slovenian) are legitimate in English, but we try to use only Slovene so that all headers and categories are the same. On Wikipedia, they have a policy that accepts both spellings, but they do not have to worry about the same problems that we do. --EncycloPetey 05:57, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

That's were the discussion is supposed to be continued, or is that a final policy page? ^_^ I have pretty strong arguments in favour of "Slovenian" - beside "Slovenian" being 10x more used in adjectival sense than "Slovene" (google "Slovenian language" vs. "Slovene language", and being much more used in relevant literature/by relevant institutions (both political/linguistic), it's morphologically more correct too; "Slovene" really means "of or pertaining to Slovene ethnos", "Slovenian" "of or pertaining to a Slovenia". Slovenian is a name of official language of Slovenia, not an ethnical designation (like Croat & Croatian, Serb & Serbian...the name of language is always Croatian, Serbian etc.). Maybe it would be good to settle this issue once and for all somewhere where more traffic is involved (e.g. WT:BP). --Ivan Štambuk 22:00, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Translation requests!

Hi Andrejj. Could you possibly help me out with some translations? I'm looking for rye, gluten, and coeliac disease in Slovene. (I'm heading to Kobarid soon, and my girlfriend is allergic to gluten!) I figure as long as people are getting others to vote oppose, I might as well ask a real editor with real knowledge of Slavic language to weigh in and vote on our treatment of "Serbo-Croatian".
