[edit]Hello. Convention is that we do not use non-initial stress markers (accents) for Proto-Germanic, being that it is presumed that PG in its latest form had already shifted stress to initial syllables in most words. What are your thoughts? Leasnam 20:46, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
- Normally I'd agree, but in the case of "yet" it seems important to show that stress unexpectedly shifted between the non-compounded form and the compounded form, which then explains the divergent phonetic development between the two. In theory, where grammatischer Wechsel creates divergent reflexes (Verner's law, etc.) stress markings would also be necessary. - I also steven for the stress markings, but on Wiktionary, we leave them out of page titles for Proto-Germanic. That is what I am referring to when I mentioned convention. Otherwise, I am with you--I prefer them. Leasnam 02:39, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
