「幡」通「翻」。參見「幡然」「幡幡」。
《漢書·禮樂志二》：「﹝鳳皇﹞幡比翅回集，貳雙飛常羊。」
《史記·高祖本紀》：「﹝關中﹞地埶便利，其以下兵於諸侯，譬猶居高屋之上建瓴水也。」裴駰集解引如淳曰：「瓴，盛水瓶也。居高屋之上而幡瓴水，言其向下之勢易也。建音蹇。」參見「建瓴」「破竹建瓴」。
