Unterflak
Appearance
Bavarian
[edit]Alternative forms
[edit]- Unterflack (spelling variant)
Etymology
[edit]Compound in the style of Unterhosn. The origin of the second part is not entirely certain, but it probably comes from Flachs (“flax”) (from Middle High German vlahs, from Old High German flahs, from Proto-Germanic *flahsą (“flax”)), which could later have been reinforced by Flak ("flak") from military jargon.
