UUID (plural UUIDs)

  1. (computing) Initialism of universally unique identifier.
    • 2008, Marc Brevoort, Growing Better Software:
      A good example of an informationless key is a UUID (essentially a random 128 bit value, guaranteed to be unique) which is typically displayed as hex string.
