[edit]Potentially attested as thusvelde in 1262, attested with certainty as Het Tusveld in 1773-1794. Potentially a compound of dialectal tus (“thick layer of grass and weeds, peat”) or Old Dutch Tuet (a personal name) and veld (“field”).
