• From a reduced form of the Old Norse personal name Þórketill, which is composed of the elements Þórr (“Thor”) and ketill (“cauldron”).
• A Jewish Ashkenazi surname, possibly from Yiddish טערקלטויב (terkltoyb, “turtle dove”).
