Etymology

Named by Dutch explorers Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman between 1595 and 1597. From later Latin tucana (toucan).

  1. (astronomy) A spring constellation of the southern sky, said to resemble a toucan. It lies south of the constellations Phoenix and Grus.
