[edit]From Old English Totta (“Totta's”) + dene (“valley”); alternatively, from Old English Tod (“Death”) + Mort (“Death”) + dene (“valley”); or otherwise deriving from Old English tod (“fox”) + mor (“moor”) + dene (“valley”).
