[edit]First attested as rosit and rosyt in 1312-1350. Derived from Proto-Germanic *rausa (“reed”) suffixed with Gallo-Roman Latin -etum. The first element was gradually reinterpreted as te (“at”). Compare Holset and Terblijt.
