@Equinox: What if the wanted name is not owned by anyone. My wanted name is User:SunnyMoon, for instance, and nobody is named that. I tried renaming myself to SunnyMoon, but it says it is taken, even though it is not. BrightSunMan (talk) 14:06, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Try renaming yourself here: [1]. If it says it's taken, then it must be reserved for some special reason you can't see, e.g. past historical activity since deleted. Equinox ◑ 14:09, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
